TULIP ASKS HER SHADOW TO DANCE

White Tulip dresses
for the dance her sisters gone
hours ago joined and
left the dance
tossed their pretty
dresses
of many colors faded
wrinkled
upon the darkening
ground spent
dance partners
seeking fresher
blossoms

alone
she fluffs her
swan skirts of waning light
asks her Grandmother
Moon who will
dance with her in
this late hour?
